There’s something so special about being invited to photograph life’s milestones
and a first birthday is one of my absolute favorites.
This recent cake smash session was extra close to my heart because it was for a family I’ve had the joy of photographing before.
Watching their little ones grow through my lens year after year is truly one of the best parts of what I do.
This time, it was their youngest’s first birthday, and we celebrated in the sweetest way
with frosting, giggles, and plenty of cousin time.
My girls even got to come enjoying some much needed cousin time.
Making it feel like one big family afternoon.
There’s something so natural and joyful when the kids already know each other;
those in-between moments of laughter and curiosity are where the magic really happens.
The session was filled with soft light, pastel colors, and a beautiful cake that was just asking to be smashed.
What I loved most, though, was capturing the way mom looked at her baby that mix of pride, nostalgia, and pure love.
She’s now a mama of three, and you can just feel how much she treasures these fleeting moments.
Every time a family asks me to photograph something this special, I’m reminded of how meaningful these little milestones truly are.
They’re not just photos; they’re memories of messy hands, frosting-covered smiles, and the joy that fills a home when a baby turns one.
I left this session with a full heart (and a few sprinkles stuck to my shoes),
grateful for families who trust me to document these chapters of their story.
Here’s to another year of giggles, growth, and capturing the moments that mean the most.
